Cissie Gool Memorial
Concrete Bollards
2007

I was commissioned by the Sunday Times 100 Years of Stories project to make a memorial in honour of one of the human rights icons of the city of Cape Town, South Africa. I gathered a variety of newspaper reports on changes the activist-politician had made for the everyday life of underprivileged people. These found texts were then embedded around different sized concrete bollards to serve as a seating/eating area for passers-by.
