I had a boarding plank of the kind usually used for boats on canals and rivers made up and installed leading out of the window of my studio at the time. This was located in the Leopold Baracks in Ghent, Belgium, where the HISK studio program is housed. The HISK shares the building with the Belgian army. By displacing an object usually associated with canals, I wanted to draw attention to the view outside, which I found most unusual for an artists' institution.
