Pooling Dust
Marble Dust
2010
This piece is based on the idea of 'spolia'. Historians use the term to refer to the re-use of earlier building material or sculpture for new monuments. In Rome, temples to Ancient Roman gods, like the Pantheon, were converted into churches as Christianity gained power.
By delineating the floorplan of the Pantheon with marble dust, I hope to highlight the possibility for re-use and changeability when making new structures.
