Triumphal Arch (after Dürer)
Leather handbags
2010

Albrecht Dürer's Triumphal Arch (1515) was the impetus for this sculpture. Dürer's arch took the form of a massive wood engraving, depicting an arch in the style of the Ancient Romans. The print was made for the emperor Maximillian who is said to have chosen the then more democratic medium over traditional ones due to its portable and reproducable qualities.
