Open Endings

Multi-media Installation, 2015

Open Endings forms part of a larger research project that looks at links between the late 19th century Belgian Art Nouveau movement and the colonisation of the Congo. In this installation, Art Nouveau motifs are set up in dialogue with various Congolese ones, including the now-defunct Air Zaire logo, the Kinshasa monument known as Tour l’Échangeur and Kuba textiles. It includes a presentation of the artist book Twenty Thousand Leagues Under Seas.
